Glenn Harrold is a full Diplomate member of the British School of Clinical Hypnosis, one of the most respected organisations in clinical hypnotherapy in the UK. The BSCH adhere to a very strict code of ethics and are the only UK organisation affiliated with the training of doctors and other health professionals in the art of hypnotherapy in the N.H.S. Glenn is a very experienced clinical hypnotherapist who has helped hundreds of clients with a wide range of stress related problems. Before becoming a clinical hypnotherapist he was a performing and recording musician and has since built a state of the art digital recording studio. Combining his hypnosis skills with extensive recording expertise has enabled him to produce a uniquely effective series of high quality hypnosis recordings.

How I began making Hypnosis Tapes
Before becoming a hypnotherapist I was a musician and spent much of my time based in my home recording studio. At the beginning of 1997 I began producing my first hypnosis tapes, primarily to help support the work I was doing with my clients. I began looking at other similar tapes available and found most were poorly produced with many sounding home-made. I soon realised that there were many therapists making tapes but very few understood recording techniques. You can be a great therapist but if the recording is uncomfortable to listen to with background hiss and no EQ or compression on the vocal, then they will not be effective. So I set out to produce a range of tapes that were well produced with the emphasis on being genuinely effective. I initially recorded and released 7 titles :-

Each was carefully scripted and recorded using sophisticated digital recording technology. They became very successful and sold everywhere they were displayed. I also received some fantastic feedback from people, confirming how effective I believed them to be which was very pleasing. In 1999 I added another 5 titles :-

I have since updated and in some cases rerecorded those earlier tapes using the latest recording technology, and began to develop other hypnotic recording techniques to compound the overall therapeutic effect.

On the hypnosis tapes and CDs the listener is guided into a deep trance using clinical hypnotherapy induction techniques and 60bpm sound effects, which help to synchronise the left and right hemispheres of the brain and in turn create a very receptive learning state. Once the listener is in this optimum learning state they are instructed to repeat carefully worded affirmations relating to the title of the tape/CD. These affirmations, which slowly pan from left to right in the headphones, are a deeply relaxing and unique effect that is very hypnotic and helps the listener absorb each affirmation on a very deep level. This is also compounded with many post hypnotic suggestions throughout the recording.

The story so far
Since their first release in 1997 the series have become hugely successful much to my delight and amazement! As of mid 2004 they have sold nearly 275,000 units in the UK alone and now I have signed a major US distribution deal they are taking off in the USA and Canada. The 21 titles are well-established best sellers in all major UK book chains. In Waterstones the top sellers are on their elite super tier core stock list - the only tapes of this type ever to achieve this.

The titles also regularly feature at the top of the UK Neilson audio book chart. The complete relaxation title has been at Number 1 in the self-help audio chart every year for the last 5 years. In the 2003 self help audio chart 18 of the top 30 were my titles. In the mainstream chart best sellers I was the 11th best selling audio book author in the UK for the whole of 2003, only being outsold by the likes of JK Rowling and Agatha Christie. Future Plans
I have a number of new titles in the pipeline, and plans for a new innovative hypnosis product range. All will be revealed later this year. Although it will be a step into unknown territory I have a good feeling about this project similar to when I made my first tapes in 97. I am also writing and producing a CD album of songs with my wife Aly, as we have always written songs together and we are going to indulge in our favourite hobby. I would also like to thank Aly for helping me along this road and always being supportive.

The most rewarding aspect of my work is the many emails, phone calls and thank you letters I get from people all over the world who have been helped by using the tapes and CD's. I'll never ever tire of hearing how someone has overcome a phobia or achieved a big goal using one of my CDs. It really is a delight.
