Glenn is a very experienced clinical hypnotherapist who has helped hundreds of clients with a wide range of stress related problems. Before becoming a clinical hypnotherapist he was a performing and recording musician and has since built a state of the art digital recording studio. Combining his hypnosis skills with extensive recording expertise has enabled him to produce a uniquely effective series of high quality hypnosis recordings.

How I began making Hypnosis Tapes
Before becoming a hypnotherapist I was a musician and spent much of my time based in my home recording studio. At the beginning of 1997 I began producing my first hypnosis tapes, primarily to help support the work I was doing with my clients. I began looking at other similar tapes available and found most were poorly produced with many sounding home-made. I soon realised that there were many therapists making tapes but very few understood recording techniques. You can be a great therapist but if the recording is uncomfortable to listen to with background hiss and no EQ or compression on the vocal, then they will not be effective. So I set out to produce a range of tapes that were well produced with the emphasis on being genuinely effective. I initially recorded and released 7 titles :-

Each was carefully scripted and recorded using sophisticated digital recording technology. They became very successful and sold everywhere they were displayed. I also received some fantastic feedback from people, confirming how effective I believed them to be which was very pleasing. In 1999 I added another 5 titles :-

I also updated the original seven titles using advanced recording techniques, and began to develop other hypnotic recording techniques to compound the overall therapeutic effect.

Some of the features I use now are to guide the listener into a deep trance using clinical hypnotherapy induction techniques and 60bpm sound effects, which help to synchronise the left and right hemispheres of the brain and in turn create a very receptive learning state. Once the listener is in this optimum learning state I then instruct them to repeat carefully worded affirmations relating to the title of the tape. I use a sweep delay effect and large stereo reverb on these affirmations which slowly pan from left to right in the headphones. This powerful, deeply relaxing and unique effect is very hypnotic and helps the listener absorb each affirmation deeply. Since their first release in 1997 the series have become hugely successful having gone on to sell over 275,000 units in the UK alone. The 20 titles are now Best sellers in major UK chains Waterstones, Ottakar's, Books Etc and Hammicks Bookshops, outselling all similar ranges and as a result are on the Core stock lists in all chains. With Waterstones the titles are on their A core stock list - the only tapes of this type ever to achieve this.

The titles also regularly feature in the TOP 20 of the Neilson Book Track Audio UK Chart. In the definative 2001UK audio book chart I had 3 titles in the top 20, with the Complete Relaxation title reaching number 8. More recently I was named as the 9th best selling audio book author in the UK for the whole of 2002, only being outsold by the likes of JK Rowling and Agatha Christie.

I have now released all 20 titles onto CD format and have many new titles in the pipeline, including a number of hypnosis videos and DVDs. Although I don’t see clients anymore due to the success of the tapes and the demands of the business, the most pleasing thing for me now is the many emails, phone calls and thank you letters I get from people all over the world who have been helped by using the tapes and CD’s.
